Dallastown - Albert A. Owens, 83, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, surrounded by his family at his sister's home at 228 E. Water St., Mt. Carmel.
He was born in Kulpmont on February 24, 1942, the son of the late Albert T. and Mary (Chato) Owens.
Albert was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School, Class of 1959. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. Albert earned a bachelor's degree in teaching from Elizabethtown College, where he was a cross-country runner and captain of the team for his last two years. In 1966, he began his teaching career at the Dallastown School District, where he taught for 30 years and also served as a junior high wrestling coach for many years. He was a lifetime resident of the Dallastown area until January 2024, when he moved back to the Mt. Carmel area to stay with his sister and brother-in-law.
Albert was a member of the former St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Mount Carmel, the Dallastown American Legion, the Kulpmont American Legion, and the Prince Athletic Association in York.
Albert is survived by a daughter, Breanna Owens and husband, Toby of TN; four sisters, Mary Slovick of Shamokin, Ruth Ann Witrosky and husband Richard of UT, Jane Tamecki of Northumberland, and Linda Narcavage and husband, Edward of Mount Carmel; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins surviving. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Owens.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 26th at 3 p.m. with Father Grant Ambrose officiating in the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 West Main Street, Dallastown, PA 17313. Visitation will be held at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home from noon until the time of the service. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Kids Play, 655 Lee Rd. Northbrook, IL 60062, to support children from low-income families throughout the United States by providing access to sports through their grant program.
