Anna "Jo" (Nicholas) Theurer, 93, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2021. She was the wife of the late Harry A. Theurer Jr., to whom she was married for 66 years until his death in 2017.

Jo was born on January 27, 1927 in Springfield, Missouri, and was the daughter of the late Henry M. and Hazel (Breech) Nicholas.

Her family moved to Boston when she was 6 months old and she spent her early childhood there until moving to Philadelphia at the age of 12. Jo graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1944. She attended Drury College in Springfield, MO, and Taylor Business School in Philadelphia. Jo worked for a photographer in Philadelphia until her family moved to York in 1949.

Jo and Harry had met as children, living in the same neighborhood in Boston. They re-connected in Philadelphia in 1947, after Harry returned from his Air Force service in WWII. They were married on March 24, 1951, settling in York the next year. Jo was a stay-at-home mother who loved to cook and bake for her family. She was an avid bird-watcher, always having binoculars and a field guide handy. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was one of her greatest joys.

Jo is survived by two daughters, Nancy Shirey and husband Dale, and Carol Reynolds and husband Scott; three grandchildren, Tad Shirey and wife Amanda, Megan Erickson and husband Neal, and Tara Klein and husband Josh; six great-grandchildren, Bryn and Luke Shirey, Dane and Hazel Erickson, Jackson and Ava Klein. As well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Matta Lee Sorgini of Houston.

Per Jo's request, private services were held for her family to celebrate her life.
