Bernice M. (Wineka) Contres, 94 of York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17 at the SpiriTrust Lutheran Skilled Care Center in Manchester Township.

Mrs. Contres was born in York on December 27, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Melvin and Ethel (Reisinger) Wineka.

Bernice worked in the office for the Town and Village Insurance Company until their closing, and then worked for the York Health Bureau until she retired.  She enjoyed watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, bowling, walking and visiting the beach and ocean.  Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children, Terry Wertz and his wife Linda, Sean Contres and his wife Ronda and Patricia Stratton and her husband Brad; and a step-daughter, Stacia Smith-Contres. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; as well as her sister, Colleen Ludwig and her brother, Leon Wineka. She was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis McGuigan.

Following cremation, a memorial service to honor Bernice's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 22 at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with the Rev. Tricia McMackin officiating. Prior to the funeral service a visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, beginning at noon until the start of the service. Interment will follow in Heiland View Cemetery.
