Betty J. (Brown) Tollinger, 97, of Cross Roads, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Seaton Springwood. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard F. Tollinger, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage until his passing in 2007.
Born on October 24, 1927, in Laurel, York County, Betty was the daughter of the late Carl W. and Erma J. (Dunlap) Brown. She is survived by her children: William Tollinger, Linda Snyder, and Kevin Tollinger and his wife, Barbara. Betty was a proud grandmother to 7 grandchildren, a step-grandchild, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was also a cherished sister to Harold Brown and his wife, Jean, Patricia Grove and late husband Eugene Grove, and Grace Urey. Betty was predeceased by her four brothers: David, Dale, William, and Thomas Brown, and her sister, Dorothy Runkle.
Betty's love for her family was unmatched. She had a passion for cooking and baking, often preparing large meals for family gatherings and special occasions. Her dedication to her family's enjoyment of her meals was a testament to her loving nature.
Betty served as chairwoman of the Hershaull Park Community Picnic for the chicken gravy for many years, a role in which she touched many lives. For over 60 years, Betty was an active member of Round Hill Presbyterian Church, where she was honored to be the oldest living member at the time of her passing. Her faith and commitment to her church were integral parts of her life.
A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown. Rev. Chester Joines will officiate. A viewing will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM, prior to the service. Burial will follow in Round Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Seaton and Serenity Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion that they provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, in honor of Betty's legacy of love and care for others.
