Carol L.
Miller
May 22, 1959 — Oct 1, 2026
Carol L. Miller, 67, of York, passed away on October 1, 2026, at Yorkview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born May 22, 1959, in York, she was the daughter of the late Curvin and Almeda (Stabley) Miller. Carol grew up in the Felton and Red Lion areas and was a 1977 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School.
After high school, Carol followed her passion for fashion and design to New York City, where she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology. She graduated in 1979 with a degree in fashion design and made New York City her home for approximately 15 years while pursuing her career.
In the mid-1990s, Carol returned home to Pennsylvania to take over her family’s business, Hain’s Pipe Shop in York. Following the shop’s closure, she began a new chapter of her career in marketing with York Wallcoverings, where she worked until her retirement in April 2026.
Carol had a curious and creative spirit and was an avid reader throughout her life. Her many interests included fashion and design, art, history and architecture, with a particular admiration for the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. She also loved antiques, traveling, movies and music, especially The Beatles and Elton John. More than anything, those fortunate enough to know Carol will remember her for her smile, quick wit, thoughtful advice and wonderful sense of humor. A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, partner and friend to so many, Carol touched many lives along the way and will be dearly missed.
Carol leaves behind her longtime partner, Frank Emley; her brother, David Miller and his wife, Josie; her sister, Karen Englman and her husband, Hans; her nephews, Joseph Miller and Adam Miller; her nieces, Ginger Snelbaker and Ruth Mitzel; as well as the many dear friends she made throughout her life.
Services for Carol will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
