Barshinger
Dec 22, 1930 — Nov 9, 2025
On Sunday Novermber 9th the Lord granted Catherine's (Cass) wish to come home. Catherine Mildred (Eveler) Barshinger (94), passed away peacefully in her sleep at Providence Place Senior Living, Dover, PA. Cass was born December 22, 1930, in Dallastown to Harry Eveler and Elizabeth (Peters) Eveler and was the youngest of 8 siblings, all deceased. She was the devoted wife for 66 years to Charles Barshinger who preceded her in death in 2018. They lived in Dallastown until Charles, a carpenter, built their house in Red Lion where they lived for many years. Cass and Charles moved to Laurel Manor in Dover in 2017.
Cass is survived by her two daughters, Barbara A Barshinger (and her partner Scott Anderson) of Annapolis, MD and Doris E Galliera (and her husband Ted) of Dover. Granddaughters, Amy Galliera (children: Samuel Braunlein, Maxwell Braunlein) of West Chester, PA and Andrea Bowes (and her husband Jason) of Mechanicsburg, children: Jackson Bowes, and Camilla Bowes.
She was a long-time congregant of St Joseph's Catholic church in Dallastown where she attended St. Joseph's elementary school and later graduated from York Catholic High School in 1948. She worked at Commonwealth Bank-Mellon Bank in Dallastown for over 20 years. She volunteered at the Red Lion library for several years.
Cass loved being with her family and enjoyed family vacations to Ocean City, MD, Florida, Jamaica as well as many cruises throughout the Caribbean Islands. She and Charles also enjoyed bus trips in the US and Canada with their many friends plus trips to Rome, Paris and Germany with her daughter, Barbara. Cass was an avid reader spending hours reading several books a week. She also enjoyed the games she played on her iPad.
The family wishes to thank the many wonderful caregivers at Providence Place Senior Living, Hospice and Community Care, Wellspan York Hospital. We also thank the friendly, helpful staff at the Dover library.
Due to her love of reading, we recommend that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dover Area Community Library, www.yorklibraries.org/donate-now (choose Dover) or the charity of your choice.
