Clayton James Moreland passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2025, with his beloved wife, Margaret (Peggy) Daab Moreland, and daughter, Christina Marie Bertok, lovingly by his side.

Clayton, affectionately known as "Jim," was born on December 2nd, 1947, to Coye Lee Moreland and Delores Lipscomb Moreland in Keyser, West Virginia. After graduating from Allegany High School in 1965, Jim enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He served three valiant years as a coxswain, responsible for landing craft operations and steering troops onto shore.

Jim and Peggy instantly fell in love when they first met on October 4th, 1966, at the age of 19 and 18, respectively. He charmed her with his good looks, quick wit, and his instant devotion to her. Jim and Peggy married on November 21, 1967, and spent the next 57 years dedicated to each other.

After serving in the Navy, Jim graduated from the Keyser Vocational Technical Center in 1970 with a degree in drafting. He worked over 20 years as a warehouse supervisor at Glens Falls Hospital before moving to Pennsylvania. Jim and Peggy were soon joined by their adored daughter Christina, her much loved husband Michael Bertok, and his two cherished grandchildren Jordan Bertok and Spencer Bertok.

Jim often filled his time hunting, ice fishing, and most recently, assembling jigsaw puzzles. His biggest love was spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, Jordan and Spencer. He shared his passions with his grandchildren, taking them on fishing adventures and camping trips throughout their childhood, in addition to attending every one of their school events and athletic games.

Jim was strong willed, with an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was selfless, loyal, strong and brave. He will be remembered for all the unconditional love and laughter he shared with his friends and family.

Jim was predeceased by his parents and sister Barbara Moreland Rafter, He is survived by his dearest wife, Peggy, treasured daughter, Christina, and son-in-law Michael of Seven Valleys, PA, granddaughter Jordan and her partner Calvin Macintosh of Philadelphia, PA and grandson Spencer of Baltimore, MD, sisters Janet Moreland Zacharias and her husband Ron of Oceanside, CA and Joyce Moreland Shepherd of Wilmington, NC. and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on February 22nd from 2:00-5:00pm at Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W Main St., Dallastown, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hartford Fish and Game Club.
