Dale W. Snyder "Snipe", 77, of Dallastown, passed away at WellSpan York Hospital on Saturday, February 5th. He was the beloved husband of almost 52 years to the late Bonnie L. (Hess) Snyder, who passed away in December of 2021.
Mr. Snyder was born in Dallastown on January 29, 1945 and was the son of the late George and Florence (Haugh) Snyder.
Dale was a mechanic for the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Company in York and retired after 32 years of service. He was a member and actively involved in the Rescue Fire Company #1 of Dallastown for 59 years, as well was a member of the Airville Fire Company. He was also a social member of the Dallastown American Legion Post 605 and a member of Camp 4x4, where he was the head cook. Dale was a people person and known as a social butterfly, on Friday nights he could be found working and socializing at bingo at the firehall. He loved going on fishing trips with his family and spending time with them.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Jennings and her fiance' Shawn Hoffmaster, of Dallastown and his grandson, Cody W. Jennings and his fiance', Katie Montella, of Oxford. He is also survived by his brother, John Snyder, of Dallasown; sisters, Nancy Myers of York Twp., and Mary Innerst of Dallastown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Charles Snyder.
A viewing for Dale will be held on Friday, February 11th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown. Then again on Saturday, February 12th from 8:30 -10:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, 126 W. Main St., Dallastown. A funeral service to honor Dale's life will be held on Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church and will begin promptly at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Patti Bream officiating. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions in Dale's name be made to the Southern Area Fire & rescue (SAFER), 50 S. School Place, Dallastown, PA 17313.
