Dale T. Wise, 79 of York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19 at Manor Care – Kingston Court.
Mr. Wise was born in York on February 14, 1938 and was the son of the late Myrle T. and Alverta M. (Emenheiser).
Dale attended St. John's Blymires United Church of Christ with the help of his friends Joel and Steph Frey. He was involved in mission work in the Dominican Republic. Dale had a great love for gospel music as well as baseball. He was a well known south paw pitcher and was inducted into both the Susquehanna League Hall of Fame and the Central League Hall of Fame. He enjoyed watching and supporting all of his children and grandchildren's sporting events.
He is survived by his seven children; Melinda Wise Zimmerer and her husband Jeff of York, Duane Wise and his wife Kym of Columbus, OH, Dale Wise, II and his wife Laurie of Seven Valleys, Colene Smith and her husband Troy of York, Rexford Wise of York, Nathan Wise and his wife Holly of Manchester and Pam Hertzand her husband Dan; his grandchildren, Cole and Tyler Zimmerer, Michaela, Nicole, Mallory and Walker Wise, Dalton and his wife Holly Wise, Darin Wise, Alexa Smith, Alesha and her husband John Tressler, and Lindsey, Katie and Charlie Hertz. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Eqypt and Ameera; brother, Dean Wise; sisters, Dorothy Mowry and Doris Dec; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Wise.
A funeral service to honor Dale's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 23 at Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, 10384 Winterstown Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356, with Pastor Jay McWilliams officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday and will begin at 10:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Dale's name can be made to the youth shooting team of the Mason Dixon Clay Busters, 213 Pine St., Glen Rock, PA 17327 or to St. John's Blymires United Church of Christ, 1009 Blymire Rd., Dallastown, PA 17313.
