Obituary

David A. Amspacher, 66, of Red Lion, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 24, 2024. Born on August 7, 1958, in York, he was the son of the late Milton and Phyllis (Walker) Amspacher.

David was an office manager for over 20 years at Pennfield before retiring from Caterpillar after 20 years of service.  A lifetime lover of all animals, he always had a canine companion by his side, riding shotgun (Brandy, Molly, and most recently Stanley).  He loved to go for long drives, which is how he found his treasured hunting cabin in Bedford County.  He spent many weekends and hunting seasons there, inviting family and friends to join, filling everyone with his delicious home cooking.  Some favorite dishes were his home fries, sausage gravy, lasagna, fried scallops, and Maryland crab soup. He loved farming and gardening, as well as canning and freezing vegetables and fruits.  He found joy in the simple things of life, and preferred being outdoors.

David is survived by his sister, Diane L. Sterner, and two brothers, Mark Amspacher and his wife Amanda, and Michael Amspacher and his wife Susan, all of Red Lion. He also leaves behind three nieces: Alisa Grove and her husband John, of Windsor, Katelyn Otterbein and her husband Ben, of Hummelstown, and Sara Amspacher of Red Lion; along with a nephew, Eli Amspacher and his wife Chloe, of Loganville. He was preceded in death by his beloved nephew, Kyle Sterner.

A visitation will be held in from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2024, at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM, with the Rev. Kevin Becker officiating.
