Obituary

David Paul Cawthorne, 58, of Dallastown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Wellspan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Jennifer Lynn Harding-Cawthorne; together they shared almost 20 years of marriage.

Born Friday, November 6, 1964 in Summit, NJ, he was the son of the late Richard B. and Joan E. (Paul) Cawthorne.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by his son, Joseph Paul Cawthorne of Dallastown; two sisters, Marianne Wurtemberg and her husband John of Knowlton, NJ, Barbara Simpson and her husband Fred of Smithfield, VA; four nephews, Nicholas Ficarra, John Wurtemberg, Evan Simpson, Austin Simpson; a niece, Meghann Wurtemberg and many loving extended family members and friends.

David is a graduate of Susquehanna University and a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He had a life-long love of music starting with playing the trumpet and also singing as part of the Essex Chorale. He shared that love of music with his son, playing instruments together as well as singing in the church choir. David was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Dallastown. Besides being in the choir, he was a volunteer with their Vacation Bible School.

David had many years as a manager in the hospitality and service industry. A New Jersey transplant, David was a Giants and Mets fan and later became a fan of the Ravens and Orioles. David was a big proponent of animal rescue and added many four-legged members to his family. One of David's favorite places was Mantoloking at the NJ Shore where he spent so much family time.

A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, PA. Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate the life of David will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Christ Lutheran Church, 126 W. Main St., Dallastown, PA with Pastor Patti Bream officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD, 21741.
