Dolores R. (Werner) Butcher, 93, of York passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 3 rd , 2022, following a lifetime of loving devotion to her family and beloved husband of 74 years, Ray (W. Ray Butcher).
Born in York city on November 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Henry E. and Dorothy A. (Hawk) Werner. During her life, Dolores was very active as a musician. She was an organist and pianist for multiple churches, including the Christian Science Church in York, Otterbein United Methodist (Spry) Church in Spry and the Carsontown Church. Dolores participated in the York Symphony Chorus, the Matinee Musical Club of York and the Golden Age Chorus of Dallastown. Dolores was a member of The Eastern Star (local chapter) and served as a volunteer for local Hospice home visitation services.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Butcher is survived by 3 daughters: Sandy Grove and her partner, Jim Flinchbaugh, of Red Lion, Susie Demuth and her husband, Thom, of Cincinnati, OH, and Libby Murray and her husband, David, of Fairfax, VA; 7 grandchildren: Brian Grove, Sara (Demuth) Kluesner, Chris Demuth, Annie Demuth, Caitlyn (Murray) Drumheller, Wyndham Murray and Bronwyn Murray; and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as other loving family members.
A funeral service to celebrate Dolores' life will be held on Saturday, January 8 th at 11:30am at Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home; 104 W. Main St. in Dallastown, with Rev. Thomas Sanagorski officiating. Internment will follow in Otterbein Cemetery at Spry Church. Viewing hours will be at the funeral home on Friday, January 7 th from 6:30 until 8:00 pm., and again on Saturday morning from 10:30 until the start of the service at 11:30 am. The family invites individuals to consider wearing a facial covering while attending the viewing and/or funeral services.
