Edward L. Houser, 78, of Brogue, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of family and friends on Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Sandra J. (Bixler) Houser. The couple celebrated 55 years of marriage this year on May 11th.
Mr. Houser was born in Dallastown on April 15, 1945 and was the son of the late Stewart and Ruth (Kornbau) Houser.
Ed was a graduate of Red Lion High School and attended Penn State University. He proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He was a registered representative for Prudential Insurance Company for 28 years. Ed loved being in the outdoors and was an avid archery hunter. He also enjoyed fishing, visiting Potter County, classic muscle cars, as well as vegetable gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two brothers, Donald Houser and his wife Pamela, of Scranton and Alan Houser and his wife Rose, of Red Lion. He is also survived by his nephews, Jeremy, Davis, Grant, Ryan, Noah, Aaron, Dylan, Austin, Wesley and Leon.
Following cremation, a memorial service to honor Ed's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 16, at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St. Dallastown, with Pastor Jeffrey Rider officiating. A visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, and will begin at 1:00 PM until the start of the service. Interment will be private.
