Elva F. (Warner) Hengst, 93, of York, passed away at Rest Haven York on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Howard F. Hengst, Jr. The couple was married 75 years at the time of her passing.
Mrs. Hengst was born in Dallastown Nov. 3, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Sam and Florence (Knaper) Warner. Over the years, she worked at Dallastown Sewing Factory, Dentist Supply and House of Windsor Cigar Factory and babysat lots of children for many, many years in the Dallastown area. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cindy, her three sisters Rachel (Warner) Wedlock, Erma (Warner) Hetrick, Vera (Warner) Godfrey and her three brothers Sam, Vernon and Homer. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Elva loved to put puzzles together and work on "Find a Word" books and was a long time member of Codorus Church of the Brethren.
A funeral service will be held at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 West Main Street, Dallastown, PA 17313 on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, beginning at 1:00 PM , led by Pastor Eric Ritenour. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral service and will begin at Noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Road, Dallastown, PA 17313.
