Fern A. (Grove) Workinger, 97 of Dallastown, passed away peacefully at the Dallastown Nursing Center on Sunday, January 7, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Jesse A. Workinger. The couple was married for 48 years until Jesse's passing in 1992.
Mrs. Workinger was born in Felton on December 23, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Clinton O. and Myrtle S. (Wise) Grove.
Fern was a dedicated farm wife and an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to cook, bake, garden and care for her family. She was a long time member of New Harmony Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and also taught Sunday school and Bible school. Fern served the Lord and her family very well. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her four children; Thomas Workinger and his wife Bonnie of Red Lion, Robert Workinger and his wife Margie of Brogue, Beth Winters and her husband Curtis of Red Lion and Clinton Workinger and his wife Connie of Red Lion. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Nan Workinger, Crystal Davis, Michele Winters, Andrew Workinger, Andrea O'Dell, Jennifer Teyral, Nicole Wilson, Melissa Warren, Micah Workinger, Holly Wolfe and Rebecca Conover; 20 great grandchildren; and her sister, Arlene Warner and her husband Dick. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Marlene; sisters, Dorothy, Mae, Zelda, and Vernetta; and her brothers, Carl, Homer, Clinton, Jr., and Bob.
A funeral service to honor Fern's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 12 at New Harmony Presbyterian Church, 2295 Delta Rd., Brogue, PA 17309, with Pastor Beth Appel officiating. A visitation with the family will be held at the church on Friday and will begin at 9:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to New Harmony Church Cemetery Association, 2295 Delta Rd., Brogue, PA 17309.
