Gary J. Houser, 77, of York Township, passed away at WellSpan York Hospital on Monday, July 22, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Virginia A. (Schaeffer) Houser.

Mr. Houser was born in York on January 27, 1947 and was the son of the late Julius and Bernice (Dodrer) Houser.

Gary was an English teacher for the Southern York County School District, retiring after 30 years of teaching. He was an active member of Spry Church. Gary's family was extremely important to him and he always enjoyed attending his sons' activities when they were younger and later in life his grandchildren's activities. He enjoyed sports and was also an avid reader.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Markus Houser and Andrew Houser and his significant other, Cindy Hart. He is also survived by his grandson, Spencer Houser and his granddaughter, Avery Houser.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Spry Church, 50 School St., York, PA 17402, with the Rev. Dr. Ken Loyer and the Rev. Austin White officiating. A visitation with the family will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service.  Burial will take place on Monday at 2:00 PM, at Greenmount Cemetery.
