Obituary

George W. Collier, 90, passed away unexpectedly at WellSpan York Hospital on Wednesday, December 9 th . He was the beloved husband of Linda A. (Bumbaugh) Wert Collier and the late Kathleen Collier.

Mr. Collier was born in Columbia, PA on April 3, 1930 and was the son of the late George Washington and Uretta (Hooper) Collier.

George worked for the General Telephone/Verizon telephone company for over 30 years. He was a Ham radio operator for 65+ years and enjoyed model airplanes, hobby railroading, and was an avid fisherman his entire life. He loved and served God as a member of St. Paul's UCC of Dallastown and as a former member of Salem UCC of Jacobus.  He loved music and played the pipe organ, often providing special music at church.  He also sang bass in the choir most of his adult life.  He was known for his sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Bruce A. Collier, of York and Keith A. Collier, also of York. He was preceded in death by his toddler sister.

A private graveside service will be held at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Pastor Kevin Becker officiating. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
