George Martin, 92 of Spring Garden Twp., passed away at his residence on Saturday, May 1 st . He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Palme-Marie Charlotte (Denis) Martin.

Mr. Martin was born in Wilkes Barre on February 22, 1929 and was the son of the late Adolf and Mary (Owen) Martin.

George proudly served in the United States Army and retired after 28 years of service. Following his service in the Army, he worked for the York County Prison and retired from there after 11 years. George was cofounder and pastor of Elijah Outreach Ministries, where he helped to serve the local community. He enjoyed reading and studying theology, baking, playing the guitar and singing. Throughout his life he was an avid jogger and continued to jog later in life, running 7 miles on his 70 th birthday.  Most of all he loved the time spent with his family and teaching the word of God.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children, Dennis Martin, Scott Martin, Donna (Martin) Vena, Patrick Martin, John Paul Spitzlay and Palme-Marie Anne (Martin) Wrinkle, as well as their spouses. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jennifer, Andrew, Ryan, Jaci, Maryn, Emma, Julian, Audrey, and Josslyn; brother, Robert "Tiny" Martin; sister, Mary (Martin) Snyder, her spouse and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four siblings, David Martin, Lewis Martin, Lillian (Martin) Bell and Adolf "Mick" Martin, Jr., as well as additional extended family members.

A funeral service to honor George's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 12 th at St. Peter's Church, 1708 Seitzville Rd. Seven Valleys, PA 17360, with Pastor Thomas E. Beck officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday and will begin at 9:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment to follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
