Glen E. Gemmill, 90, of Dallastown, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Lenabelle (Sanders) Gemmill.
Mr. Gemmill was born on June 18, 1933 in Stewartstown and was the son of the late Roy and Mary (Seitz) Gemmill.
Glen proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. For most of his life, he worked as a skilled mason and was a member of the Bricklayer's Union. Glen was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his family and family get togethers. He had a great love of nature and being in the outdoors. Glen spent much of his time tending to his garden, hunting and trout fishing. Glen was a social butterfly and could often be found at the clubs, where he was a member including the Dallastown American Legion Post #605, the Stewartstown VFW, the Yorkana Game and Gun Club, and the Hopewell Fish & Game Association. Glen was an avid baker of pies and often showed up wherever he went with pies to share. He will be greatly missed by his family and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his daughter, Janet Williamson and her husband, Charles; two grandchildren, Travis J. Williamson and Sarah G. Smith and her husband Scott, as well as three great grandchildren, Evelyn F. Williamson, Lucas M. Smith and Lucy M. Smith. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Wineholt, his dear friend, Helen Kornbau, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lloyd Gemmill, Preston Gemmill, Phyllis Brinkmann, Evans Gemmill, Ethel Gemmill, Doris Covell and Dorothy Bacon.
A viewing will take place on Friday, February 23rd from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Dallastown. On Saturday, February 24th, there will be another viewing from 8:00-10:00 AM at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, followed by the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Pastor Daniel Moore will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the Dallastown American Legion Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions can be made in Glen's name to the Dallastown American Legion Post #605, 57 W Main St, Dallastown, PA 17313.
