Harold R. Campbell, 98 of Dallastown passed away peacefully at Dallastown Nursing Center on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.  He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Marie (Wallace) Campbell until her passing on May 22, 2000.

Born March 31, 1926 in Airville, he was a son of the late Alfred B. and Glenn (Anderson) Campbell.

Mr. Campbell was a faithful member of Guinston Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and Clerk of Session.  A proud patriot, he bravely served our country in World War II in the European Theater with 4th Platoon, E. Company, 2nd  Batallion, 232nd Regiment, 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division from 1944-1946, and was among the heroes who liberated prisoners from the Nazi concentration camp in Dachau.  For the rest of his life, he also served his community in many other ways, including as a recording secretary for the Brogue Lions Club.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Beverly A. Kyle and her husband David of Red Lion; two grandsons: Justin R. Campbell and companion Courtney Winters and Ryan D. Campbell and his wife Renee; his brother, Harvey A. Campbell and wife Carolyn; his daughter-in-law Deborah L. Campbell; his sister-in-law Patricia Campbell wife of the late M. Grove Campbell), as well as many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard W. Campbell and two brothers: Hugh Campbell and M. Grove Campbell.

A funeral service to celebrate Harold's life will be held at 11am on Monday, December 23rd at Guinston Presbyterian Church; 14130 Guinston Rd. in Airville with Rev. Dr. Daniel R. Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Guinston Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military honors rendered by the Dallastown American Legion Post 605 Honor Guard.  A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will also be on Monday at the church from 10am until the start of the service.
