Ida J. (Lehman) Baker, 98, of York, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at ManorCare Health Services – Dallastown, on Saturday, May 15 th . She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley E. Baker, Sr.
Mrs. Baker was born in York on October 21, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Katie (Doll) Lehman.
For most of her life Ida was a dedicated homemaker and farmer's wife. She later worked for a local sewing factory and DeVonos Dry Cleaning. She was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacobus. Ida enjoyed crocheting, solving word find puzzles and was known as an outstanding cook and baker. She enjoyed cooking large meals for her family every Sunday for many years. She was previously a 4H leader as well as a cub scout leader.
She is survived by her four children; Stanley E. Baker, Jr and his wife Jean, Kenneth E. Baker and his wife Paula, Sandra K. Dehoff and her husband Jack, and Brenda K. Willders and her husband William. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sister, Sue Stambaugh and her husband Rodney, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Baker; great-grandson, Benjamin Redding; and siblings, Mamie, Lizzie, Beulah, Beatie, Edna, Ruth, Edward and Paul.
A funeral service to honor Ida's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 20th at Salem Lutheran Church, 99 York Rd., Jacobus, PA 17407, with Pastor Tina Minnich officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Thursday and will begin at 9:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment to follow in Salem Union Cemetery. All attendees are asked to follow CDC guidelines.
