Jack R. Snyder, 83, of York Township passed away peacefully at Dallastown Nursing Center on October 21st, surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of the late Dauris A. (Warner) Snyder.
Born January 21st, 1934 in Dallastown, he was a son of the late Elmer N. and Mildred M. (Ebersole) Snyder.
Jack retired from Met-Ed GPU in August of 1994 after 29 years of service. As a young man, he learned his trade while working with his father at their family-owned Snyder's Garage in Dallastown. He was also a proud member of the Izaak Walton League and the NRA. Most of all, Jack is remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
Mr. Snyder is survived by his 4 children: Alan E. Snyder and his wife, Pat of York, Holly R. Shirey and her husband, Steve of York, Lonny J. Snyder of York and Chad R. Snyder and his wife, Laurie of Germantown, MD; 2 grandsons: Jason Shirey and Zachary Snyder; 2 step-grandchildren: Jennifer Haugh and Travis Shirey; cherished companion, Josephine Witman, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Flo Neff, his 2 brothers, Carl and Dick Snyder and his beloved Samoyeds, Fluffy and Snowball.
Following cremation, an informal celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 25th at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon. Inurnment will be private.
