Jeanette I. (Lentz) Black, 87, of Red Lion passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side at WellSpan York Hospital on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 She was the beloved wife of the late Claude "Ben" B. Black, Jr. The couple were married for 62 years until his passing in 2016.

Jeanette was born in York on February 8, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Carroll F. and Dorrien L. (Hengst) Lentz.

Jeanette was a dedicated wife and mother for most of her life and loved to crochet. She was a member of St. John's Blymire's UCC for over 50 years. Following her husband's retirement in 1997, the couple moved to Belleville, Mifflin County and resided on top of the mountain in the log home that Claude had built. Her favorite companion, Corki, followed along and kept her safe from bears on their daily walks.

She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Boyer and her husband Daniel, of York, Pamela Wallick and her husband Kevin, of Red Lion and Wendy Black of Hanover; two granddaughters, Jessica Williston and her husband Ben and Heather Yingling and her husband Tom. She is also survived by two great grandsons, Liam Williams and Jackson Williston; as well as her sister, Jean L. Nelson and her husband Richard of Red Lion.  She was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Maven Williston.

A funeral service to honor Jeanette's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 21st, at St. John's Blymire's United Church of Christ, 1009 Blymire Rd., Dallastown, with the Pastor Rick Pulling officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday, beginning at 1:00 PM until the start of the service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
