Jesse E. Ruth, Sr., 82, of Red Lion, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, at York Hospital. He was the loving companion of Katharine Baker; they shared 32 years together.

Born Wednesday, April 22, 1942, in Stoverstown, he was a son of the late Daniel, Sr., and Bessie (Rineholt) Ruth.

Jesse's work experience included many years at CertainTeed, P.A. & S. Small Food Wholesaler, with a retirement from Scrivner INC. before dedicating over 20 years to F&S Transportation, where he found joy in driving a school van and interacting with the children. His love for driving was matched by his passion for gardening. He meticulously cultivated over a half-acre of land, planting various crops and enjoying the fruits of his labor. Jesse was happiest when he was outdoors, whether tending to his garden or tinkering in his garage, where he often worked on various projects with a cigar in hand.

In his younger years, he cherished the moments dancing to Western and Country music with Katharine in Lancaster. They spent many evenings enjoying live music and dancing, creating memories filled with laughter and joy.

Jesse is survived by his companion, Katharine, and his children: Blake Arrington and his wife Carmen of Jenks, OK; Terri Lowe of Windsor; Kathleen Gumbel and her husband Ted of Mt. Joy; Jesse Ruth, Jr. and his wife Tanya of Hopkinsville, KY; and Jennifer Coeyman and her husband Dave of York. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many other loving extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

A service to celebrate the life of Jesse will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, PA with Rev. Bradley Rineholt officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Friday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Round Hill Cemetery, Felton. Pallbearers will be Jesse Ruth, Jr., Dave Coeyman, Kris Ruth, Josh Lowe, Chase Coeyman, Chance Coeyman, Harry Lehman, and Mike Lohss.
