Joan Elaine (Stump) May, four days short of her 92nd birthday, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on February 10, 2024. She was the beloved wife of 64 years to the late Arthur A. May.

Joan was born February 14, 1932 to the late Merle E. Stump and S. Katherine (Ruff) Stump.

Joan was a lifelong resident of Spry, PA and graduated from York High in 1950. She was a lifelong  member of Spry Church where she sang in the choir, was a girl scout leader and also a Sunday School teacher.  Joan worked for the Dallastown Area School District in food services, as well as for Fitzkee's Candy.   Joan and her husband Art, enjoyed traveling across the US and attending many tractor festivals. She enjoyed cross stitching, games and puzzles and doing antique shows with her sister, Nadine Goodwin.

Joan resided at Seaton Springwood for five years, where she loved so many staff and residents. She was known to always have a smile on her face and a warm welcome to everyone. The Seaton made her last years golden.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Snyder and her husband Jan, and Julie Reynolds and her fiancé Chris Brosey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andrew May and his wife Casey, Kevin May, Kristie Snyder, Kelsey Kaltreider and her husband Austin, and Emma Snyder; as well as her two great granddaughters, Carenna May and Olivia Kaltreider. Also surviving are her two sisters, Nadine Goodwin and Doris Hughes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, A. Allen May.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 16,  2024 at Spry Church, 50 School St., York, PA 17402. Burial will be held privately by the family.
