Joanne M. (Raffensberger) Ness, 79 of Springfield Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24 at SpiriTrust Lutheran The Village at Shrewsbury.

Mrs. Ness was born in York Township on September 17, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Emory and Elsie (Fake) Raffensberger.

Joanne was a member of Arlington Evangelical Congregational Church in Red Lion. In her retirement years she enjoyed horticulture and tending to her gardens. She also enjoyed listening to blue grass music and attended weekly sessions.

Joanne is survived by her three children, Sheryl Grim of Dallastown, Randy Ness and his wife Laura of York, South Carolina and William Ness and his wife Melissa of Winterstown; seven grandchildren, Gina Grim, Casey Grim, Cortney Hawks, Teri Ness, Dustin Ness, Erin Ness and Brandon Ness; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Harvey, Jim, Donald, and Glenn Raffensberger. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Phyllis Runkle and Mary Rauhauser.

A funeral service to honor Joanne's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 30 at the Arlington Evangelical Congregational Church, 585 Lombard Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356, with Pastors Sterling Trimmer and Frank Miller officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Thursday and will begin at 10:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
