John M. Hedrick, or as most people knew him, Marty, Passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the age of 62. He was the loving husband of Brenda (Schilling) Hedrick for 28 years. Born September 4, 1961, Marty was the son of John and Nancy (Paley) Hedrick of Felton.

Marty is survived by his two daughters, Rebecca and Matt Cadden of Stewartstown and Nicole Hedrick of Dallastown; and a step- son, Kyle Craley of Dallastown. Marty also leaves behind a sister, Amy Hedrick and her companion Randy McKee of York; a three-year-old grandson, Cedric Cadden, whom he adored; and many loving extended family members and friends.

A 31 year cancer survivor, Marty was a 1979 graduate of Red Lion Senior High and was proud to have served four years in the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the service, Marty was a dedicated member of New Harmony Presbyterian Church in Brogue, belonged to the Dallastown American Legion Post 605 and was a life member of Red Lion VFW Post 1446, as well as a former member of the Columbia Hill Climbers.

Marty was employed at U.S.G., Red lion, and then at Reliance Student Transportation as a school bus driver where he drove students to and from school and to additional extracurricular school activities, all of which he really enjoyed.

Marty relished dining out, camping, and going to the mountains to view the Elk. As his health failed, he found joy in sharing funny social media posts with his friends and family to keep in touch.

A memorial service for Marty will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at New Harmony Presbyterian Church, 2295Delta Rd., Brogue, PA. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM  until the start of the service. Pamela Leach will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial donations be made towards the funeral expenses.
