John H. Leight, 81 of Windsor passed away peacefully at ManorCare Kingston Court in York on Saturday, January 21, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Alice C. (Bloom) Leight.
Born April 15, 1941 in York, he was a son of the late Albert and Mary (Emenheiser) Leight.
Mr. Leight proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service, he served a 40 year career as a diesel mechanic with Consolidated Freightways. He was a faithful member of Chapel Church in Red Lion, a member of the Red Lion Masonic Lodge # 649 and a former Scout Leader. In his free time, he loved to travel.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son-in-law, Todd Leiphart, his granddaughter, Samantha Leiphart, his great-granddaughter, Hailey Strine, as well as two siblings, Marion Hovis and William Leight.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Deborah Leiphart and Michelle Lynn Leight, as well as three siblings, Donald Leight, Gladys Beal and Charlotte Sechrist.
A memorial service to honor John's life will be held on Saturday, January 28 th at 11am at Chapel Church; 3050 Cape Horn Rd.; Red Lion, PA 17356 with Rev. Josh Wargo officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. A time to share memories and gather with the family will also be on Saturday morning at the church from 10am until the start of the service.
