John Carl Pomory, Sr., 77 of Loganville, passed away at his residence on Sunday, February 28 ^th . He was the beloved husband of Judith Ann (Hambrick) Pomory.

Mr. Pomory was born in Brooklyn, MD on September 27, 1943 and was the son of the late Louis and Irene (MacDonald) Pomory.

John enlisted in the United States Army in the early 1960s during the Vietnam War. He first joined the 1 ^st Infantry Division, aka, "The Big Red One", then the 101 ^st Airborne Division, and later became a Green Beret in the United States Army Special Forces. Following his service to his country, John worked in construction, starting out as a laborer and worked his way to become an engineer with McCormick Properties.  He and six of his friends later formed Atlantic Builders Group, where he was co-owner and vice president. John was in charge of overseeing the design and construction of several office buildings in the Hunt Valley corridor, as well as projects for the US government. He was just as successful in his civilian career as his military career.

John held his commercial pilot's license, and even though he enjoyed flying an aircraft, he loved parachuting from them even more! He loved animals, especially ducks, and spending time with friends, but above everything else, he loved spending time with his three granddaughters.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John C. Pomory, Jr. and his wife Betsy; granddaughters, Lexie Pomory, McKenna Pomory, and Samantha Pomory; as well as his siblings, Elaine Eliott, Janet Scott, Mark and Michael Pomory; and many dear friends, especially Susan Svehla, John Reese and Col. Lou Faistenhammer. John is also remembered by those he considered his second family, his friends and colleagues he proudly served with in the Special Forces, both living and deceased.
