John L. Waltersdorff, of York, passed away peacefully at Rest Haven-York on Tuesday, July 21, two days after his 76 th birthday.
John was born in Alexandria, VA on July 19, 1944 and was the son of the late Leroy W. and Helen L. (Cox) Waltersdorff.
John grew up in Dallastown and was a 1963 graduate of Dallastown High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. Following his military service, he began working for Caterpillar Inc. and retired after 30 years of service. John was a member of the Dallastown and Red Lion American Legion. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his two daughters, Julianne Rosier and her companion Stan Cottrell of York and Jamie L. Raffensberger and her husband Donny also of York; grandchildren, Brandon Raffensberger and his companion Cheyenne Stenclik, Joshua Raffensberger and his wife Ally, Alexander Rosier and Raegan Rosier. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Bennett, Taylee and Josie Raffensberger; brothers, Roger Waltersdorff and his wife Lynn of New Freedom and Jim Waltersdorff and his wife Darlene of York; sister, Pam Sterner and her husband Chester of Dover, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Per John's wishes, following cremation a private memorial service will be held by the family. The Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., Dallastown is in charge of arrangements.
