Leona M. (Barshinger) Deardorff, 99, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at her Dallastown home. She was the wife of the late Richard P Deardorff, whom she married on August 8, 1940 and also the wife of the late Clair Deardorff, whom she married in August 23, 1975.

Mrs. Deardorff was born in York on February 8, 1923 and was one of eight children born to the late Wilson and Martha (Hengst) Barshinger.

Leona started working as a seamstress and eventually held the position of floor lady and worked at Danskin and several local sewing factories. She attended Christ E.U.B. Church in Yoe and also the Christ United Methodist Church in Yoe. She enjoyed going to the Red Lion Senior Center, where she helped in organizing and doing craft activities. She will be remembered as being a dedicated and loving homemaker.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Myers and her husband Carter, Richard Deardorff, Jr. and his wife Jeanne, Dixie Waltersdorff and Steven Deardorff and his wife Susan. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, as well as her sister, Edith Shaw Grimm and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Leona was predeceased by her husband Richard (1975), husband Clair (1991), and her Barshinger siblings, Paul, Joseph, Glenn, Chester, Ruth Daugherty, and Flo Zarfoss. She was also predeceased by a grandson and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to honor Leona's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 16 ^th at Christ United Methodist Church, 69 N. Main St., Yoe, PA 17313, with Pastor Al Horst officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday and will begin at 10:00 AM until the start of the funeral service. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to offer thanks to Leona's caregivers, Brandy, Rachel, and Jane from Deanie Taylor King and her hospice nurse, John, for the excellent care she received.
