Lorna Streavig, age 72, of Red Lion, PA was welcomed into God's loving embrace on Friday, August 12 after a long journey with metastatic breast cancer.

Born Lorna (Cookie) Mae Laucks in 1949 in Red Lion, PA, daughter of James Kenneth and Vera (Hivner)Laucks, she was a graduate of Red Lion Area High School in 1967 and received her degree in education from Millersville University. She taught first and second grade in the Red Lion Area School District for 35 years. Cookie was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Dallastown for many years serving as Sunday School coordinator, choir member and choir accompanist.

Cookie married her high school sweetheart Gregory Streavig in 1971 and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage last October. Never one to turn down an adventure, she visited all 50 US states, 11 Canadian provinces, and all 7 continents. A woman who never stopped, she loved living and loved experiencing life and everything it had to offer.

Cookie is survived by her two daughters, Natalie Smith, of Dallastown, PA and Ashton Streavig, of Springfield, VA; her beautiful grandchildren, Lauren, Anna and Zackary Smith and Beckley and Rowan Gould; three siblings, Linda Schmuck, of Dallastown, PA, Lana Lutz, of Red Lion, and Bradley Laucks, of Shiremanstown, PA. Her passing was preceded by her brother James Kenneth Laucks Jr.; and her parents, Ken and Vera Laucks, all of whom she is with now in Heaven.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 17 at 10am immediately followed by a celebration of life at 11am at Bethlehem UMC, 109 E. Main St., Dallastown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethlehem UMC in Dallastown or to METAvivor, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing research for advanced breast cancer.
