Luther "Bud" W. Richard, Jr., 93, of Dallastown, died on Monday, April 26, 2021 at home while surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Azeal V. (Garrett) Richard, with whom he would have celebrated their 70 ^th wedding anniversary on September 22 ^nd .

Mr. Richard was born on January 27, 1928 in York and was the son of the late Luther W. Richard, Sr. and Ethel P. (Bailey) Richard.

Besides his wife, Luther leaves his four sons, Wayne Richard and his wife Sandy, Brian Richard and his wife Venus, David Richard and his wife Karen and Troy Richard and his wife Kim; as well as 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis (Richard) Simpson; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Richard, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Richard, June Kauffman, Deloris Koller and his brothers, Charles Richard and Carl Richard.

Luther retired from Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company. He proudly served in the US Navy and was a veteran of WW II, and was also a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army and was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. Luther was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church for 67 years. He was also a member of the Harrisburg Consistory, the Red Lion Masonic Lodge #649 for 42 years, the Red Lion Scottish Rite, where he served as past president, the Square Club of York, where he was past president and past treasurer, the Tall Cedars #30 and Zembo Shrine, as well as the American Legion #605 of Dallastown, where he was past commander and member of the honor guard, Viking Athletic Club, the Dallastown Rescue Fire Co., the Hawks Gunning Club, and Dallastown Golden Age Club.

Luther enjoyed going to his vacation property near Laurel Lake. He also loved to travel with his family, extended family and friends, locally, nationally and worldwide. Luther was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest, and woke up happy every morning. He will be deeply missed by those that had the pleasure of knowing him.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 30 ^th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc. 104 W. Main St., Dallastown. A Masonic service will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 1 ^st , at Salem Union Cemetery, 2705 Canal Rd., Dover, followed by a graveside service with Pastor Luke Harbaugh officiating. Guests are asked to follow COVID-19 guidelines.
