Obituary

Marvin M. Ferree, 93, of Jacobus passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 25, 2025.

Born on March 12, 1932, in Springfield Township, Marvin was the son of the late Charles and Grace (McConnell) Ferree. He was the husband of the late Sandra (Rohrbaugh) Ferree.

Marvin attended school in Jacobus through 8th grade. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1954. Marvin was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jacobus all of his life. He enjoyed playing softball for Jacobus and participating in bowling leagues. Marvin spent his career as a skilled carpenter, working for I. Reindollar Construction, Kinsley Construction, and Peach Bottom, and later for GGS Information Services in York. He was also an active member of the Carpenters' Union. Marvin was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was a member of numerous clubs including the Springfield Township Farmers and Sportsmen Association, Izaak Walton League in Dallastown, Tunnel Hill Sportsman Club, and the American Legion of Shiloh.

Marvin is survived by his daughter, Marcia Ferree of York; his son, Michael Ferree of Marion, New York; his son-in-law, Bryan Rhodes of York; his grandson, Edward Covert Jr.; and his great-grandson, Landon Covert. He is also survived by his brothers, David Ferree, Stanley Ferree, Donald Ferree, and Curtis Ferree, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Rhodes; his three brothers, Gaylord Ferree, Victor Ferree, and Dannis Ferree; and his two sisters, Esther Raffensberger and Linda Frantz.

A graveside memorial service with a military honors ceremony will be held on Friday, May 15th at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Tom Beck will be officiating the service at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Road, York, PA 17402. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marvin's name may be made to Salem Lutheran Church at 99 York Road, Jacobus, PA 17407. The Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., Dallastown is in charge of arrangements.
