Mary Ellen (Warfel) Folkenroth, 80 of York Township, passed away at the York Hospital on Sunday, December 2, 2018 with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Ray E. Folkenroth, to whom she was married to for 60 years. They celebrated their 60 ^th wedding anniversary in April with a surprise celebration party given by their family.

Mrs. Folkenroth was born in York on May 1, 1938 and was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Hildebrand) Warfel.

Mary Ellen was a 1956 graduate of William Penn High School. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for making and baking delicious goodies for her family and especially her grandchildren. Her grandchildren often requested special pies for a family get together, which of course she baked with love.  She was a faithful and a longtime active member of Salem United Church of Christ in Jacobus and will be deeply be missed by her family and her church community.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Julie Folkenroth of York, Todd Folkenroth and his wife Chris of Manchester and James Folkenroth and his wife Brenda of New Springfield, OH. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Justin Woods, Emma, Kate, and Morgan Folkenroth.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 6 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Salem United Church of Christ, 24 Franklin St., Jacobus, PA 17407 and then again at the church on Friday, December 7 from 10:00 -11:00 AM, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Pastor Kevin Becker will be officiating the ceremony.  Interment will follow in Salem Union Cemetery.
