Trostle
Oct 28, 1978 — Mar 23, 2025
Matt Robert Trostle, 46, of Red Lion passed away on March 23, 2025. Matt was born in York, PA on October 28, 1978, and was the son of Ronald L. Trostle and the late Yvonne G. (Stump) Trostle.
Matt graduated from Dallastown Area High School in 1997, where he was a member of the Varsity Track and Wrestling Team. Matt also graduated from Black Hawk East Jr. College in 1999 with an Associate's degree in animal production, and then obtained his Bachelor's of science degree in Agriculture with an agribusiness option from Western Illinois University, in Macomb, IL in 2002. He also graduated with a diploma at Missouri Auctioneering School in 2013.
Matt's passion in life included livestock, agriculture, and sports. He assisted with the coaching of the York County 4-H Livestock Judging Team and volunteered in many aspects. He was a member of the National Hampshire and Southdown Sheep Association and the National Swine Registry.
Matt enjoyed exhibiting livestock at many local and state venues as well as the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest Regions. He officiated many sheep, swine and goat competitions in those regions and had the opportunity to travel internationally, to Mexico, to judge. He raised and sold club lambs and pigs to 4-H and FFA livestock members and mentored many youth members.
Matt was a huge Chicago Bears Football fan from his youth that continued through adulthood. He also was a Duke Basketball enthusiast and loved the washers yard game. Being an animal lover, Matt had a strong and caring passion with every family dog. He found comfort in regularly attending Living Word Community Church where he enjoyed interacting with the congregation.
Matt is survived by his father Ronald; his brother, Steve and sister-in-law Cheryl Graybush; nephew, Justin and niece Kelsey; and his sister Melissa Trostle-Eaton and brother-in-law, John Eaton, Jr.
A Celebration of Matt's life will be held on April 4th, at Living Word Community Church, 2530 Cape Horn Road, with a visitation starting at 3 PM and a service at 4 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Matt's name to Black Hawk East Livestock Judging Team, 26230 Black Hawk Rd, Galva, IL 61434 or to the York County 4-H Endowment Fund, 4-H Clubs of York County, 2401 Pleasant Valley Rd #101, York PA 17402.
