Meda B. (Lerew) Hartman, 84 of York Township, passed away peacefully at Manor Care – Dallastown on Monday, November 6. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel M. Hartman.

Mrs. Hartman was born in Shrewsbury on October 18, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Martha M. (Keeney) Lerew.

Meda was one of the previous owners and operator of Hartman's bake shop. She operated stands at the Farmers, Central and New Eastern Markets. She was a longtime member of New Fairview Church of the Brethren, where she played the organ for many years and also where she prepared meals for many church banquets.  Meda enjoyed baking, music, taking trips and playing miniature golf. She especially loved her many dogs she owned over the years. While she and her husband never had any children, she hosted many wonderful family gatherings for her large extended family, of which there are many fond memories.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, John P. Lerew and Samuel Lerew; and her sister, Sarah Ilyes.

A funeral service to celebrate Meda's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 12 at New Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1873 New Fairview Church Rd., York, PA 17403, with Pastors Wayne Hartman and Charles Ilyes officiating.  A viewing will be held at the church on Sunday and will begin at 1:30 PM until the start of the service. Interment will follow in New Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Meda's name can be made to New Fairview Church of the Brethren.
