Melvin E. Gerver, 73, of Seven Valleys, passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 23 ^rd . He was the beloved husband of Renee P. (Miller) Gerver. The couple would have celebrated 42 years of marriage this October.

Mr. Gerver was born in York on July 11, 1948 and was the son of the late Melvin and Jacqueline (Fry) Gerver.

Melvin was a 1966 graduate of Dallastown High School, where he was county champ in wrestling. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. For most of his working life Melvin worked for DE Stetler and later retired from York Label. Melvin enjoyed being in the outdoors and going to the mountains. He loved hunting, fishing and crabbing as well as tinkering around the house and going scally wagin. He also enjoyed socializing with his friends and family and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Charles "Chuck" Yeager and his wife Crystal and Blaine E. Gerver; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Clark Gerver and his wife Carol, Joy Frye and her husband Harry, Mary Bisking, and Ronald Gerver and his wife Mildred, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 PM on Friday, July 1 ^st at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown and again at the funeral home on Saturday, July 2 ^nd , from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, at which time a procession will leave the funeral home to go to Susquehanna Memorial Gardens for a 10:30 AM graveside service.
