Born October 21, 1954 in Strinestown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Marvin C. and Dolores F. (Henry) Babner.
Mrs. Shirey will always be remembered as a loving and doting wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Community Bible Church in Marietta where she and her husband, Allen served as deacon and deaconess. Her service included being an election clerk for Lower Windsor Township and an independent caretaker for a dear friend. Mickey also enjoyed flowers, gardening, playing the piano, cross-stitch, crocheting, hiking, biking and walking. She especially loved spending peaceful time with Allen at their cabin in Tioga County. A special devotion of hers was to attend all of her grandchildren's sporting events. She also had a special love and dedication for rescuing stray animals.
In addition to her beloved Allen, Mickey is survived by 3 children: Candida E. (Candie) Paulson and her husband, David of Wrightsville, Kirstie L. Martin of York and Allen L. Shirey II of Dallastown; 7 grandchildren: Tyler, Faith, Julia, Thomas, Jacquelyn, Joshua and Jianna; 1 great-grandson, Roman; 5 siblings: Lloyd Greenwood, Susan Sweitzer, Judy Richards, Bill Babner and Charlie Babner, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, family, friends, and her beloved animal friends too numerous to mention.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Babner.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mickey Shirey will be held at 10am on Friday, May 27th at Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home; 104 W. Main St. in Dallastown with Rev. Paul Brosey officiating.
