Nancy A, Engelman, 88, of Dallastown, passed peacefully early Friday evening, February 16, 2024, at Spiritrust Lutheran, the Village at Sprenkle Drive, York. She was the loving wife of Rev. Emil J. Engelman, Dallastown with whom she would have celebrated 71 years of marriage on February 28, 2024.

Born February 28, 1935, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Martha (Robb) Barr.

Nancy graduated from Altoona High School and later married Emil J. Engelman whom she met while roller skating. She was a devoted wife who worked hard to help her husband through college and seminary; always by his side giving him love, support and encouragement during his 40 years of active ministry and 23 years in retirement. Nancy knew that life as a pastor's wife was not easy, but she was always grateful and supportive.

She was an active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Freysville and in the early years of her husband's ministry, she was a devoted Sunday School teacher. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life and after raising her children she worked for many years at the Child Development Center of Christ Lutheran Church, Dallastown. Nancy enjoyed playing cards at the church's card night and after she retired, she played cards weekly on ladies' night. Before the onset of Alzheimer's, she attended Golden Ages, Dallastown, and the meetings of the retirement group from Emanuel Lutheran Church.

Nancy enjoyed basketball, Penn State football, NASCAR and traveling; especially going on cruises. She was a great cook, making dinner nightly with family sitting around the dinner table and someone always saying grace before the meal. Nancy made the best pizza from scratch.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Cynthia Howard and husband Ed, Altoona, Alyn Nedimyer, and husband Leo, Lugoff, SC, Dr. Eric Engelman, and wife Robyn (Young), Dorr, MI and Hans Engelman and wife Karen (Miller-Mitzel), Red Lion; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marlyn Wills and Maxine Phinney.

A service to celebrate the life of Nancy A. Engelman will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 2650 Freysville Rd., Red Lion with Pastor Paul Frank and Pastor Patti Bream officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday, February 22, 20024 at the Eberly Funeral Home, 104 West Main St., Dallastown from 6 PM to 8 PM and again on Friday from 10 AM until the start of the service at the church. Burial will be in St. John's Blymire's Cemetery, Dallastown. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Engelman, Hans Engelman, Mick Jaslow, Andrew Nedimyer, Joshua Nedimyer, and Aaron Khoury.

The family would like to extend their appreciation for the care and love given to Nancy by the York Hospital, Spirit Trust and Hospice Community Care over the last couple of weeks, and for the thoughts and prayers received from the extended church community.
