Odessa L. (Smeltzer) Gentzler, age 93, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Dale G. Gentzler. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before Dale passed away on June 24, 2021.

Born on February 1, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Samuel O. Smeltzer and Flora M. (Graham) Smeltzer. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Floyd S. Smeltzer, Dallas G. Smeltzer, Kenneth O. Smeltzer, and her sister, Katharine E. Geesey.

Odessa went to Dallastown High School and received her GED from York Vo-Tech as an LPN nurse. She retired after 42 years of service as a charge nurse at Pleasant Acres.

She enjoyed traveling the country with her husband and spending quality time with family and friends. Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her beloved nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 22 ^nd at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown. A funeral service to honor Odessa's life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 23 ^rd and will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow in Mount Rose Cemetery.
