Jun 20, 1920 — Jan 8, 2019
Dallastown,
Rae (Sechrist) Kauffman, 98 of Dallastown, passed away at WellSpan York Hospital on January 8, 2019. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Dellinger Kauffman.
Rae was born in Dallastown on June 20, 1920 and was the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Miller) Sechrist.
Rae had a great passion and love for music. She earned her bachelors degree in music education from Lebanon Valley College and retired from the Dallastown School District, where she spent her entire teaching career. She was a choir director, accompanist and piano teacher, sharing her passion of music with not only her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, but with the entire Dallastown community. She was a lifelong faithful member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Besides her love of music, she also had a love for cooking, never allowing anyone to leave the table hungry. Rae's greatest joy was time with her family.
She is survived by her three children, Julie Kauffman Claeys and her husband Brian of West Chester, William Richard Kauffman and his wife Diane of Mechanicsburg and Ellen Rae Zeigler of Dallastown. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bailey Claeys, Kelly Kauffman, Eric Kauffman, Alex Kauffman and Michael Kauffman; and her two great grandchildren, Josiah Kauffman and Aleah Kauffman.
A funeral service to honor Rae's life will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 12 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 East Main St., Dallastown with the Rev. Roger Mentzer officiating. Visitation will also be held at the church on Saturday beginning at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow in St. John's Blymire's Cemetery.
