Obituary

Ramon G. "Doc" Wolfe, 85 of York passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 18, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Nancy A. (Young) Wolfe, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on November 18, 2021.

Born May 4, 1937 in York, he was a son of the late Sylvester F. and Anna M. (Doll) Wolfe.

Doc was a tireless servant of his country and community. He graduated from William Penn Senior High School in 1955. After his honorable discharge from the Army Reserves in 1962, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years, and worked part time at Sears. His generous service to the community included HACC Fire Police, education in Advanced Fore 1 at Bucks County Community College with annual refresher training, District Chief for Springetts Fire Company (now called York Area United Fire Service), Certificates of Appreciation from Springetts Township Police Dept. and Community in 1999, 2004, 2007 and 2013. Doc was also a member of Springetts Firebabies and participated in parades throughout York County.. He started his fire service at Vigilant Fire Company in York City.He also served in Leo Independent Fire Company of Red Lion Fire Police in traffic control of parades and other community events, Spring Garden Township Fire Police and aided in rescue and recovery during the Johnstown Flood. In addition to his volunteer work, he also enjoyed making macrame lawn chairs. Doc also served as an usher on the York Fair grandstand and a crossing guard on Haines Road.

In addition to his wife, Doc is survived by 3 daughters: Tammy S. (Wolfe) Dietz, Pamela (Wolfe) Croft and her husband, John and Janette (Wolfe) Forry and her husband, Zane; 5 grandchildren: Megan Pfitzenmeyer (Kris), Matthew Croft, Layne Grim (Jared), Jared Dietz (Lexi) and Amber Forry; 2 great-grandsons: Barrett Grim and Austin Dietz; 2 sisters: Joan Myers and Donna Tome (Terry), as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 siblings: Susan Rudy and Richard Wolfe.

A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be at Christ United Methodist Church; 5 Main St.; Yorkana, PA 17406 on Sunday, June 26th from 2-5pm, and again at the church on Monday morning from 9am until the funeral service begins at 10am with Pastor Tonya Brubaker officiating. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York with military honors provided by the Dallastown American Legion Post # 605 Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Jared Dietz, Matthew Croft, Zane Forry, Kevin Lattimore, Kristopher Pfitzenmeyer, and Jared Grim.
