Randy E. Mitzel, 55, of Red Lion, passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2026.

Born in York on May 25, 1971, he was the son of the late Kerwin W. and Deanna L. (Hershey) Mitzel. Randy grew up in the Red Lion and Windsor area, where he spent most of his life and built many lasting friendships.

For the past 12 years, Randy shared a loving companionship with Christine Amspacher, enjoying life's simple pleasures together.

A 1989 graduate of Red Lion Area High School, Randy spent much of his working life in the roofing industry, employed by several local companies throughout the years. Most recently, he worked alongside his brother, Rich, at Lake Clark Marina, a job he greatly enjoyed.

Randy was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Steelers fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a longtime fan of Dale Earnhardt. Some of his happiest times were spent boating on the river with family and friends.

Randy's faith was important to him. He formerly attended Bethany Church in Red Lion and most recently was an active attendee of Freedom Biker Church on Leaders Heights Road.

In addition to his loving companion, Christine Amspacher, Randy is survived by his daughter, Ruth D. Mitzel of Philadelphia; his brother, "Rockin Rich" Mitzel and his wife, Joanne of Red Lion; his sister, Teresa Mitzel-Myers of York; nephews Cory Myers, Colby Myers, Chad Mitzel and Eric King; nieces Kelly Mitzel, Ashley Gambold, and Melissa King and many loving extended family members and friends.

He also leaves behind his faithful K-9 companion, Snook, whom he loved dearly. Randy and Snook were inseparable and enjoyed countless adventures together.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his former girlfriend, Lori Horton; his parents and Lori tragically lost their lives in an aviation accident.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Jim Quoss officiating, and those attending are asked to arrive at the front gates of the cemetery by 1:50 p.m. The family invites those attending to wear black and gold attire or Pittsburgh Penguins or Pittsburgh Steelers apparel in honor of Randy and his lifelong devotion to his favorite teams.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Randy's memory.
