Obituary

Raymond L. Raney, 76, of York, formerly of Dover, passed away at WellSpan York Hospital on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was the beloved husband to Beverly A. (Lehman) Raney.

Mr. Raney was born in New Kensington, PA on December 19, 1947 and was the son of the late Raymond A. and Edith V. (Nichols) Raney.

Ray proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a maintenance foreman for McCrory's Distribution Warehouse until its closing. He then worked for the York Fairgrounds until his retirement. He was a member of the Shiloh American Legion Post #791 and the York County Auto Racing Club. Ray loved auto racing. He was a mechanic for racecar driver Ron Grinestaff, and was an avid fan of NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Ray also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at family get togethers, where he did the grilling and was the Grill King.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Nathaniel Raney and his wife Cindy, and his daughter, Tanya Dehoff and her husband Brian. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zoe and Liam Raney, and Bret, Dakota, and Ashley Dehoff; as well as his sister, Joyce Kotvas.

A service to honor Ray's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at The Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown.  A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday and will begin at 10:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment to follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, with graveside military honors by the Dallastown American Legion Post #605.
