Richard B. Blessing, 95, of York, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Ruth Mary (Kauffman) Blessing, with whom he shared over 74 years of marriage.

Born August 23, 1930, in York, Richard was the son of the late William and Grace (Sechrist) Blessing.

Richard worked as a layout man for Formit Steel, retiring in 1965. He later owned and operated his own ornamental railing business. A member of Church of the Open Door, Richard was actively involved in the life and activities of the church.

In his free time, Richard enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Ravens. He also enjoyed working with his hands and could often be found tinkering with lawn mowers and other projects.

Richard is survived by his three children, Vicki Miller and her husband, Joseph, of New Oxford, Debra Blessing of York, and Ricki Blessing and his wife, Daeon, of Lower Windsor; six grandchildren, Amy Baumler, Emily Glenn, Heidi Seymore, Kalam Blessing, Ashton Blessing, and Kendra Bartlet; 16 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Romaine Crawford and her husband, Levere.

In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Blessing.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, at Church of the Open Door – East, 4075 E. Market Street, York, PA 17402. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Donald Heindel, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Heiland View Cemetery.
