Robert A. Groves, Sr., 78, of Gettysburg and formerly of Windsor, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 at Transitions Healthcare Gettysburg.

Born May 14, 1945 in Bedford, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey and Edith (Goodrich) Groves.

Mr. Groves retired from Harley Davidson, York where he was a welder for many years.  His love of Harleys was passed down to his children and he also loved cars.  Mr. Groves enjoyed hunting, fishing and when he was younger, he was in a bowling league.

He is survived by his children, Michelle Criswell and husband Joseph, Sr., Windsor and Robert A. Groves, Jr. and fiancée, Shelly Orwig Windsor; brother, Lloyd Groves and wife Ruthann, Dallastown; brother-in-law, Robert Stough, York; grandchildren, Trysta Criswell-Tran, Joseph Criswell, II, Brandon Criswell and Kayla Tracey and great grandchildren, Austin Criswell, Andre Tran, Adriana Atchley, Caleb Criswell, Dean Criswell and Jasper Hoffman.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jack Groves and sister Elaine Stough.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 1 PM at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Dallastown with Pastor Chris Golembiowski officiating.  A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Friday from 12 PM until the start of the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York, PA.  Serving as pallbearers will be Robert A. Groves, Jr., Joseph Criswell, Sr., Joseph Criswell, II, Brandon Criswell, Austin Criswell and Andre Tran.
