Obituary

Robert "Dean" Johnson of Red Lion, 75, passed away at home Thursday, March 31, 2022. He was the husband of the late Susan E. Renfro-Johnson, who died in 2018.

Mr. Johnson was born in Red Lion, September 15, 1946, son of the late Velma P. (Harman) and Robert E. Johnson.

Dean was a 1964 graduate of Dallastown High School. He previously worked at Kinsley Construction, Peach Bottom Power Plant and later retired from Dallastown's office of the United States Postal Service.

Dean was a United States Marine Corps. He served in the Vietnam War as a machine gunner and was wounded in service, earning a Purple Heart and other medals. Dean also formerly played football for the Red Lion Semi-Pro team.

Mr. Johnson was an avid coin collector, and enjoyed tropical fish. He was a grandfather who showed up to every event of his grandkids he possibly could.

He is survived by his children, a daughter, Kayla Boyer (Kenneth) of Red Lion; a son Matthew Johnson of Red Lion; and a son, Chad Dill (Angela Felts) of York New Salem. His grandchildren, Jazlyn Johnson (Ethan Wertz), Owen Boyer, Dalton Boyer, Kyle Boyer, Talisa Marine, Coen Felts & Jude Felts. He is also survived by his brother, Rodney B. Johnson of York & mother-in-law, Janet Renfro of Glenville.

A viewing will take place at Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home Inc., 104 W. Main St. Dallastown on Monday, April 4 from 6-8 p.m. and again Tuesday, April 5 from 10-11 a.m., with services at 11 a.m. provided by Pastor Kevin Becker. Interment with military honors will follow at Salem Union Cemetery in Jacobus.

The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the Wellspan Visiting Nurses team who have assisted in his care.
