Roger J.J. Ness, 74 of Red Lion, passed away peacefully at ManorCare Health Services- Kingston Court. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Mary E. (Griffith) Ness.

Mr. Ness was born in York on February 1, 1944 and was the son of the late Raymond and Ethel J. (Menche) Ness.

Roger was a 1962 graduate of Dallastown High School.  He began working for Sears and Roebuck in 1966 and continued until 1984, at which time he began the National Telephone Exchange where he was the president and co-owner until his retirement in 2008.  In his youth, Roger obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and later in life was the former director of Make A Wish Foundation, as well as starting Santa's Helpers. He was a lifetime member of the Victory Club and also a former member of the Hawk's Club. Roger was an avid golfer and loved playing the links and was formerly a member of the Regents Glen Country Club, the Hershey Country Club and the Red Lion Country Club, but above all things in life, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Joelle L. Hevner and husband Alan of Red Lion, and Christina N. Redmond of Red Lion; grandchildren, Jared E. Hevner, Jenna E. Hevner, Andrew J. Poff, Randi E. (Poff) Wolcott and husband Timothy; and a great granddaughter, Skylar E. Wolcott.  He is also survived by a brother, Robert Ness, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Raymond Ness.

Following cremation, a visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 20 at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown.
