Obituary

Ruth N. (Stoner) Ecker, 93, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at home with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Herbert B. Ecker and the late Albert R. Swords, Jr.

Born March 2, 1931, in York, Ruth was a daughter of the late Richard E. and Eva E. (Hengst) Stoner. Ruth worked at South Pine Nightwear and Campbell Chain before she retired as an assembler for AMP. Ruth was a member of Turnpike Baptist Church in Shrewsbury. In her free time, Ruth could be found with the Red Lion AARP, Ladies Apollo Bowling League, with the Society of Farm Women #12, playing cards, or traveling on one of her bus trips.

Ruth leaves behind her beloved children, Albert R. Swords, and his wife Peg of Red Lion, Cathy A. Eckenrode of York, Steven E. Swords and his wife Sue of Coudersport, PA, and Melissa A. Good and her husband Lynn of Spring Grove; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; siblings: Richard E. Stoner, Jr. of Wichita, KS, Donald C. Stoner, Sr. of Manchester, PA, Kathryn R. Stine of York, Joyce L. Killmer of Felton, Shelva J. Powers of White Hall, MD, Beatrice E. Mummert of Dallastown, Carolann E. Geesey of Felton, Deborah Altland of Spring Grove, Darlene K. Waltersdorff of Spry; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her husbands, Ruth is preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Swords, Jr.; a granddaughter, Lisa Kornbau; a great granddaughter, Shakeesha Marine; and siblings, Bobby L. Stoner, Lanny R. Stoner, Sr., and Shirley M. Hetrick.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St. Dallastown, PA. A service to celebrate Ruth's life will follow at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Feeser officiating. Interment to follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
